Online Photography Classes

• Introduction to Digital Photography – The most important component to taking a great photograph is you, the photographer.  In this 2-hour introductory class, you will learn how to take better pictures with your digital camera, the basic fundamentals of how to use a digital camera, and how to start seeing like a photographer.  Photographers with all types of digital cameras are welcome.

• Basic Digital Photography I – Learn about your Digital SLR (DSLR) camera and how to shoot images in the manual modes resulting in better photographs. Topics include: Understanding DSLR features and functions; Understanding Exposure; Understanding Focusing and Depth of Field; Understanding Composition and Elements of Visual Design.; and learning how to see like a photographer.   There will be shooting homework between sessions. The 6 2-hour sessions will consist of lectures as well as photo critiques.

• Backyard Bird Photography – In this class, you will learn how to take great photographs of the birds in your backyard.  Topics will include equipment & gear; camera settings; knowing your subject (food, flight pattern, places to land); setting a scene; ethics – photographers and wildlife.  The 2 2-hour sessions will include lectures, homework between sessions, and photo critiques.

• Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop for Photographers – Learn how to use Adobe Lightroom Classic CC to organize, manage, edit, print, and share photographs. This class is intended for photographers of all levels. You will learn the best ways to import, store, organize, and backup your images; the editing tools and techniques for making great images; how to export images for sharing or for printing; and how to print directly from LR. You will benefit more from this class if you already have Lightroom Classic installed and follow along, but it is not required. Lightroom Classic is available in the Adobe Photography Plan which also includes Photoshop.  This class consists of 2 4-hour sessions.

• iPhone Photography – In this class, you will learn how to take wonderful photographs with your iPhone. Learn how to use its functions to creatively compose shots, expose for great images, and use apps for editing, post-processing, and backup. Please note that this course is for Apple iPhones only.

• Photography: Composition and the Elements of visual design – (Basic Digital Photography II and iPhone Photography II) – In this class, you will learn about the basic elements of composition and visual design and how to use them to create great photographs.  You will learn how to see like a photographer and transform your approach from taking pictures to making photographs, no matter what type of camera you are using.  This class is designed for beginner to intermediate photographers who are not familiar with the elements of visual design and who want to raise the level of their photographs.  This class consists of four 1-hour sessions with homework in between each session.  This class is all about the homework and making lots of photographs.  Each session will include a lecture and critique of photographs.  All types of digital cameras are permitted including Digital SLRs, Point-n-Shoot, iPhone, and smartphone.  The only requirement is that you know how to use your camera as we will not be reviewing this in class.
