Portrait Photography Basics

with Almerinda Silva & Nick DePasquale

Portrait photography is one of the most popular types of photography. Whether it is a family member, friend, or even a stranger, portrait images can capture the personality, emotions, and essence of the subject(s). There are many different genres of portraits and in this session we will discuss tips and recommendations for the types of images that we all will typically capture on a day-to-day basis.

Almerinda Silva (www.almerinda.com) is an artist who primarily paints in oils. Her specialty is commissioned portraiture for home or office.  Whether the pensive demeanor of a corporate executive, a quiet moment between a mother and her newborn, or the light falling across a young girl’s hair, she strives to capture the subject’s individuality and character to preserve their legacy for generations.  Almerinda is also a photographer who has translated her “being able to see as a portrait painter” to “being able to see as a photographer”.
